The Salt Path film

Mortehoe is on the dramatic South West Coast Path.  The Crescent even has a logbook-stamping station for coast path walkers! SWCP has been featured in 'The Salt Path' book and movie.

'The Salt Path, based on the bestselling book by Raynor Winn, is a deeply moving film that brings to life the remarkable story of resilience, love, and rediscovery. Following the loss of their home and livelihood, Raynor and her terminally ill husband, Moth, decide to walk the 630-mile South West Coast Path as a way to find purpose and healing amidst their hardship.

Set against the stunning landscapes of the UK’s longest National Trail, the film beautifully captures the rawness of nature, the challenges of the journey, and the profound connection between people and the natural world. It’s a poignant exploration of survival, hope, and the power of the human spirit when faced with adversity.

With Gillian Anderson (The X-Files, The Fall) and Jason Isaacs (White Lotus, Harry Potter) in leading roles, the South West Coast Path is the third star of the film, forming the backdrop to Raynor and Moth's transformative journey.

Adapted by Rebecca Lenkiewicz (Ida, Disobedience, She Said), The Salt Path marks the moviemaking debut of four-time Tony Award–winning theatre director Marianne Elliott.

"Anderson and Isaacs put everything they have into their performances, conveying physical exhaustion on their faces as much as their bodies. The two stars carry one another like the rucksacks on their backs, trudging ever forward as the characters learn the cycles of coastal weather and slowly shed their expectations of luxury or even comfort. The Salt Path is a story of who we become when everything else is stripped away — and who we find walking alongside us, if we’re very lucky."
