Dear Dominic, Every member of our party were overwhelmed with the houses. You thought of everything and the rooms were lovely and spacious. Having family in Plymouth and around Tavistock I have spent many a holiday in Devon but it's the first time I have had a break in North Devon and after this break it won't be the last. We had a wonderful time in Mortehoe. It is a beautiful area.
On behalf of everyone in my group, I would like to thank you for the lovely house and break we had this weekend. Kind regards, Diane N., West Yorkshire.

Perfect Beach Getaway
★★★★★
Absolutely loved this place. So much natural light, high ceilings and everything newly renovated. The house had a great energy and was the perfect place to come back to after a full day on the beach, or a great place to completely relax and hangout for the day if the weather wasn't great. It is modern with everything you need whilst having a great homely feel about it. Loved the location as well in the gorgeous small village of Mortehoe. Excellent communication with the homeowner making everything feel super simple and easy as well. Had an awesome stay, and will definitely be staying again :) x Jeff W via TripAdvisor

Superb house in fantastic location
*****
Beautiful, very well equipped and spacious house, ideal for families, set in an idyllic village, yards from a couple of excellent pubs. Extremely helpful and responsive owner - definitely keen to stay again. NwC75, Edinburgh, via TripAdvisor

Dominic, Sorry not to be in touch sooner we had a monster drive today! The place was amazing, we are blown away by how well it's been done. It's a really great house (x2) - in fact I think the reason it worked so well for our group was the two kitchens, which meant we could concentrate on cooking in one and serving in the other. Aaron B., London

We had a really lovely break, thank you, and certainly hope to return. You have a really beautiful house! F. Capel, Stourbridge.

Fantastic house and location *****/5
Left on Oct 29, 2015 for a stay in Oct 2015
We spent five days here (us, kids, and grandchildren) last week, and found the spotlessly clean and beautiful house a great place to spend time. The village is charming, with unspoilt Woolacombe beach just down the road. The house had a homely feel, we would have liked to stayed longer! The owners could not have been more helpful, and responded very promptly to any contact. lizD4877CU, Gloucestershire, via TripAdvisor

We've had an absolutely amazing time. Can't believe we've got to leave tomorrow!
Thanks for a wonderful break. Katie J., Guildford.

We had a brilliant stay this weekend. Both houses were lovely and gave us all the space we needed. Jen K, Bristol

We had a great time, very relaxed. The house is lovely, great location and a great space for a group of friends. Melanie F, Hatfield.

We had a great time thank you. Melanie F., Hertford.

We have had a fabulous time, and hope to come back soon. Lianne H., Leicestershire

Lovely stay at Cromlech ****
The house was lovely and bedroom space was brilliant for a big group, however that downstairs space is a little cramped. Despite this we had a fab time and lots of fun on the evenings taking advantage of the large kitchen table. The host was lovely and very responsive to any questions or queries. The location of the house is fabulous and gives easy access to woolacombe beach and town. via TripAdvisor

My friends and I trawled through many websites featuring houses for rent in Devon before creating a shortlist of 5 favourites. We then voted and Cromlech House came out top. Fantastic well equipped house in a picture perfect location. We found Cromlech House a terrific place to stay, in the beautiful village of Mortehoe. The house has great character, is large and spacious and met all our needs. It has a great sized kitchen for cooking, eating and socialising in. Great TV and Wifi facilities. The location of the house is ideal and surrounded by little shops, 3 pubs, a restaurant and a Cream Tea cafe ... what more do you need. We loved the house and were very comfortable in it. We thought the village was just picture perfect with all the little shops and of course the wealth of pubs. We had a lovely meal in the Chichester and another in Rockleigh. Also a cream tea in the little cottage and fish and chips from the takeaway shop so did our bit to support local businesses. We would certainly recommend Otter cycle hire in Braunton. We took bikes for the afternoon 1pm to 5pm for £9 each however while out called the office and extended our time to 8pm for just another £3 per bike. During July and August they are open until 8pm. We did a 16 mile round trip which took us to a cafe to be recommended in Fremington and back? The trail also runs past The Braunton Inn which is also to be recommended with it's large outdoor eating area. There are other both shorter and longer routes you can do passing places of interest and with many places to stop for refreshments along the way. We travelled also to Clovelly which was a beautiful and interesting village set in the side of the hill running downhill to the shore. We would also recommend a visit to the quaint village of Croyde which also has a great beach. Dominic, the owner runs a very smooth operation with excellent communication throughout every stage of the booking, the holiday and very prompt repayment of the security deposit after the holiday. We couldn't fault the house, the location or the service we received from Dominic. We hope to return again soon. We have friends who are looking to visit the area from Cardiff so certainly will recommend your house. Sheila M, East Kilbride.

Wonderful visit and can't wait to come back. We loved the quaint village, the walking adventures along the coast, cream teas in town, the scarecrow festival, border collies everywhere, amazing swimming and rock climbing at low and high tide, and wonderful people. There is nothing remotely like this where we come from. And the home is so comfortable, bright, and beautiful. We wish we lived here! This is a beautiful renovated house in a charming, old-fashioned British village, located close (short walking distance) to a rocky coast that offers fantastic swimming, hikes along the cliff side from village to village, and many other potential adventures. Everything you would want for a perfect, relaxing vacation was present in the house, which is located right in the village next to shops and restaurants. You don't need to drive anywhere. But, those who want to see other big tourist spots can do so as a day trip. For those who like surfing, this home is located one village over from a center for British surfing (yes, they do surf in England). Beth and Buck, Brooklyn NY.

Have been exploring the area - its simply sensational :- ) House is a dream, reflects brilliantly on u both. Everything is beautiful and perfect. Had a truly fantastic time, thnx so much. A lovely week in your beautiful house :- ) A fabulous week was had by all in this luxuriously spacious holiday home. Highlights were The Arrival and discovery of our surrounds; cliff top walk to Bull Point; Hartland Abbey - impressive building with beautiful interior & fantastic walk from the grounds (through the estate) to the most dramatic of coastal scenes. National Trust Peppercombe Valley/Beach, nr Hern's Cross, past Bideford. Eating: we highly recommend: Squires Fish & Chip restaurant/takeaway, Braunton. Hot Wok Chinese takeaway, Woolacombe. Fabulous home made French lunches @ Art Gallery Café in Victoria Park, Bideford (also near Tourist Info). Hartland Abbey - delicious afternoon teas. The Potter Family, Tunbridge Wells.

We had a great time at the Buttery over New Year. The house is absolutely fantastic, so lovely, much more than we could have hoped for! A modern, spacious house was to be ours to enjoy leading up to the arrival of 2012. Free wifi [Buttery and Cromlech] and landline [Buttery] were welcome inclusions. Being able to bring our dog was brilliant & he enjoyed the walks on The Buttery's door step and will probably sleep a week now! The four blokes enjoyed Mortehoe's 3 pubs while the girls enjoyed the large well equipped kitchen. A late checkout on the final day was gratefully received meaning Laura could have a birthday lie-in before Ed scrambled his last egg for the foreseeable future. I found the Buttery on-line whilst searching for a house big enough for 5 couples for a 3 night new year break. I had an immediate response back from Dominic with a very detailed description about the property. The booking process was very easy, we just had to pay a deposit and the balance 7 weeks before we arrived. I was in constant communication with Dominic before our stay, any questions I had were answered within 24hrs. Despite this I was nervous before we arrived at the property as I was responsible for booking the property for our party of 10 and if anything was wrong with it I knew I would be to blame!! There was absolutely no reason to be nervous! The key pick up was very easy, and the house is absolutely fantastic! The huge dining table in the kitchen meant we could all cook and eat our meals together, we had a home delivery from Sainsbury's booked for when we arrived which was perfect as we ordered all the food & drink we needed on-line before we left. The utility room was perfect for the rainy days when we were all covered in mud from long walks and provided a bedroom for our dog! The bedrooms are all very generous in size and 3 rooms have en-suite bathrooms (1 bathroom shared between a double room and the TV room/sofa bed room). The house was absolutely spotless and beds very comfortable which is sometimes what lets a holiday rental down. The property is literally a 20 second walk (we timed it) to the nearest pub - The Chichester Arms, a 1 minute walk to the next pub and a 15 minute walk into Woolacombe. Summer would be a great time to come as the property has a lovely sun terrace that you can see the sea from. I would describe the house as very comfortable and homely and you could easily spend a week or more here as there is so much space, even with 10 people. Would recommend the house to anyone and we look forward to staying again! We will definitely stay in touch with Dom with a return visit in mind and will recommend Mortehoe & The Buttery to family and friends. Many thanks. Laura T., Malvern.

Fantastic, you must stay here! I found Cromlech house after almost giving up looking for a place for us & our six friend to celebrate new year. I emailed Dominic about availability & pricing. His response was very quick, calling me that evening, he could not have been more helpful. The service he offers is outstanding, The house is a credit to its owners. It has been restored to a very high standard, & has everything that is needed for a comfortable stay, the location is great, stand at the front door & you can see the sea, there are many coastal walks & the village has 3 public houses. I would recommend a stay here, you would not be disappointed. Liked best: the house, the location. Liked least: nothing. Lynn D, Cirencester.

A perfect house to enjoy friends' company - eat drink and be merry. I wanted to say a huge thank you for letting us use your house. It was absolutely perfect for our group and felt very homely. In fact so much so that we are hoping to buy somewhere similar. But it really is an exceptional place with stunning beaches and coastlines right on your doorstep. Everybody commented on how nice the house was and everybody had a great time. A huge thank you once again for all your help in making it such a brilliant weekend. and I look forward to the next occasion when we are looking for a break in North Devon as I will definitely be looking to stay in the house again This house was the chosen spot for a lovely 30th birthday weekend. Friends met from around the country and we all felt very at home in the beautiful space that this clean contemporary house provides. We had a mixed group with 2 young children under 2. The 3 story dwelling allowed us to put the kids to bed and enjoy the evenings mainly in the kitchen cooking, eating, having some great chats a few games and of course a few glasses of wine. The kitchen/dining room made cooking all meals a real pleasure. The house has a great situation and we walked both days along the coastal path to Woolacombe beach where a few warming games were played in the not so bright weather - which didn't stand in the way of a thoroughly enjoyed weekend. Dominic thank you so much for all your help when booking this location we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely think of returning. A great place! Ben and Sarah, Chudleigh, Devon.

Beautiful location, perfect house. We stayed at Cromlech House as a surprise for my very chilled out and relaxed hen do. I was over the moon when we got to Mortehoe and walked in to a beautiful, huge house with great bedrooms and amazing views. It was very clean and well looked after, it looked newly decorated and very well furnished. We stayed the first weekend of June 2013, and were extremely lucky with the weather. We walked to the beach every day. The trek back up the hill was a killer but well worth it for the location and the views- Plus made us feel better for lying around on the beach all day! The village of Mortehoe was lovely, with three little pubs and a great pasty shop! I would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone. Sophie S., Southampton

Dear Dominic and Iona, We had SUCH a wonderful stay! The house was gorgeous, everyone loved it, and the area is just amazing. The boys loved being a stone's throw from the pub ;) It was just what the family needed. It was one of the most amazing experiences, you could be anywhere in the world sat on that beach watching the sun go down. We're big travellers but the others in our group barely venture out of their hometown, it was a great experience for all. I think we will definitely be staying again! So a HUGE thank you for sharing your beautiful home. / TripAdvisor: “A little piece of heaven” 5 of 5 stars eviewed 16 July 2013 for a stay in July 2013. A beautiful house in a fabulous location! Lovely views in a great village atmosphere, a stone's throw from the pub. Nice to be near Woolacombe (literally 5 mins drive) but a little bit out in the lovely village of Mortehoe. A very comfortable house with lovely interior decoration. The owner is so helpful and friendly and fabulous to deal with. The only minus is there is no outdoor area or terrace, but when you're all day at the beach and you have the pub garden over the road it's not too much of a problem! Highly recommended. J Jones Family, Bristol.

I have just got back to London after a wonderful birthday weekend at The Crescent and wanted to drop you a note straight away. We spent a glorious three days enjoying the beaches of Mortehoe and Woolacombe. The whole group absolutely loved the house, and I'm so, so glad that we found you, and the house, again!! My friend Hannah and I, who visited the house those years ago, were absolutely wowed when we arrived and went round the house trying to remember what was where before, and how the upstairs layout in particular compared to what we remembered. As I expected from the photos on your website, the house just beautiful, and we love the way you've laid everything out and decorated, it's just the perfect Devon getaway, and we can't wait to visit again! The spreadsheet you shared with me for planning the rooming was very useful, and the information provided on the board in The Buttery in particular, was so thorough and helpful, thank you. I'll be in touch again. Kate F, London [May 2012, returning several years after she stayed in the same property pre-modernisation.]

We had a great weekend. Everything was excellent. Area and house both stunning (the weather was also kind to us). As a family we have been to many large houses before and yours is definitely one will return to in the future. Many thanks for everything

The house is lovely, the location is unbelieveable, everything finished to a high standard and quality furniture etc. 5 mins walk from a lovely rocky beach and 1m from woolacombe. The walks near by are great and the best thing is that once you are there you do not need a car. There are pubs nearby selling food and a little shop. Cannot recommend highly enough! Thanks. Anna S., Bristol.

Hi Dom, Chris and I just wanted to say thank you for letting us spend such a special time in the most amazing houses in the most beautiful village. We had the most fantastic time (even a village power cut and our wedding car breaking down didn't spoil it lol)!! We all absolutely loved the houses they are laid out so perfectly and have everything you could possibly need. Thanks for all of your help along the way! We didn't want to leave and will certainly be in the touch in the future with more bookings. Thanks again. K. Quick, Gloucester.

Firstly I’d like to say that the whole of my diverse and energetic family loved the house and their holiday there - each and every one of them said that it was perfect. And for the children, Mortehoe has turned into a must-go destination if their parents consult them on wishes! The house provided a wonderful space which suited us very well; from privacy to attractive comfortable communal areas. My cousins stayed at Watersmeet, and on one lovely evening we were all 32 seated in the kitchen for dinner! We cooked every night, and it all worked perfectly, especially as we had a rota, so those whose turn it was prepared a feast. One thing I know is that we will never forget that lovely week - the sun shone, the tides were right, and the house was perfect in every way. The kitchen equipments was impressive, sheets, bedding, towels were scrumptious, the house very nicely designed, renovated and decorated, and the beds were all comfortable. As I said - couldn’t be better, I was so pleased. Thank you both. Carol and family, Denmark
[note from owner: if one can fit an incredible 32 in the kitchen I would love to see a photo of that! :) ]

We are having a fantastic time in your beautiful houses. It's perfect. Even have some sun today. / Our week is sadly nearly over. It has been amazing. / Thank you for the swift return of the deposit. You and Iona have thought of just about everything to make The Crescent such a comfortable place to stay. You invite suggestions for improvements - my only comment would be that we only located one hairdryer between both houses which we did manage to share - a rather more powerful one in each house would have been good. I would love to return to the house and the area, there is still so much to explore. So hopefully next year we will be back. Thank you. Chris J and family, Bury St Edmunds. / TripAdvisor: “The Crescent offers outstanding accomodation in this beautiful part of the country”. We rented both properties at The Crescent for the whole family (16 in total) to celebrate Mum's 90th birthday. The accommodation is first class - modern, clean and very spacious. It is very well equipped and the large kitchen in The Buttery was perfect for our celebrations. The owner, Dominic, has been quick and efficient at sorting out our booking and answering any queries. Although we didn't get to meet him, he made us feel very welcome through his emails and is obviously very keen to know that his tennants enjoy their stay. The location is ideal, close to all the village amenities and just a mile from the beautiful beach at Woolacombe. The walks across fields and cliff tops are endless and there are places of interest to visit near by. We will definitely be returning. camus1953, Bury St Edmunds

We have all had a wonderful time at the buttery. Walking around morte point and getting thoroughly sand and windswept on combesgate beach ... Our only problem is the shortness of our stay and I have fallen in love with mortehoe ... We had a great time on saturday night with a big celebration meal for Karis birthday ... Thank you for a fantastic venue!

We all really enjoyed our week in Mortehoe. The Buttery is an ideal place to stay, and we are certainly intending to visit again. Diane, Birmingham.

We loved our stay at Cromlech. The house felt very welcoming and very comfortable, which was really nice to come back to after a long surf! Mortehoe is charming and the locals are particularly friendly. Thank you for having us! Lucy P., Oxford.

Perfect weekend. Really comfortable house. Time has passed so enjoyably. Richard F.'s friends and family, Thatcham.

We had a wonderful holiday, worth it for the clifftop walks alone. Excellent accomodation and location in small village but minutes walk away from lovely clifftop walks, National Trust Land and large sandy beach and town of Woolacombe, great for kids with plenty of coves and rockpools to explore. Large kitchen, excellent cooking facilities and nice large eating area. Property easy to book - great information provided on local amenities and maps/information on area in house itself brill. Within very close proximity are three pubs, restaurant, fish & chip shop and village stores. Both the Chichester Arms & Ship Aground serve excellent food but the meal we all had at the Ship was one of the best we have ever had, also excellent fish & chips from chippy and local produce from village stories including great cornish pasties - my son said best ever. The coastal walks are second to none and a must for any walker and the accomodation/location represents a great holiday and I would recommend a visit even out of season. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed the stay as well particulary the walks which are plentiful and varied, loads of different routes and circular walks, nice other beaches nearby including Croyde and huge beach at Saunton. Hopefully we will be down again some time in the future sooner rather than later and would certainly return to your accomodation. Thanks again for a wonderful stay I will certainly pass on the details to my friends. N P & family, Bunbury, Cheshire.

We loved Cromlech House and Mortehoe village. The house was spotlessly clean, spacious and v comfortable. Mortehoe has a great shop selling piping hot pasties and croissants as well as a good selection of basics. The Chichester Arms pub across the road was v welcoming and friendly to children. The surrounding countryside is stunning with lovely walks along the National Trust coastline. We particularly liked the walk down to Rockham beach. Croyde surfing beach and Baggy Point also fun - only 20 mins away. A great Easter family holiday! Thanks! Liked best: Clean and comfy house. AW & JW, London

Excellent location and beautiful house. Our stay at Cromlech house was an absolute delight. The house slept 8 comfortably and had an excellent kitchen diner area as well as a large front room. The house was beautifully furnished and had all the necessary kitchen equipment to cook up a storm. The house is ideally located in the centre of Mortehoe and only a short walk from the beach and local pubs. There’s a small but perfectly stocked deli next door to the house that sells a variety of fresh produce and does a lovely cream tea. All in all our stay at Cromlech was lovely, we will definitely we returning in the near future. I would recommend this house to families and groups of friends looking for a little beach escape. I'm sure I'll be in touch about renting Cromlech again, it really was a beautiful place. Erica P, Wimbledon.

Just got back from a great week in mortehoe!!! Thanks a lot for the house, it was great. Perfect space for two families and the kids especially loved having the whole top floor to themselves! We were initially concerned about the lack of outdoor space but it really wasn't an issue as the headland and beaches are literally on the doorstep and there was plenty of room in the house for drying out wet clothes / wetsuits etc. In the heart of a lovely village surrounded by stunning beaches and scenery. Mixed weather but still managed 4 long days on the beach and several headland walks - was nice not using the car all week. We enjoyed so much that if it's available, we'd like to book the house again for next year. Are you taking bookings yet for next year? J Jones, Christchurch

The perfect way to enjoy a large family holiday! It was clear that the holiday would go well as we were told absolutely everything we needed to know about the property by Dominic who was so attentive before, during and after the stay, right down to sorting out parking permits and sending us a book on the beach for the children before our arrival. Great pair of houses which gave loads of sleeping and living space but a kitchen big enough for 12 of us to eat in comfortably as we tended to spend time more in one house than another. Both houses lovely. Excellent to have a landline to use as the mobile reception is dodgy and the wifi meant that we could all keep up to date with emails on the ipads. Really to be recommended. Kate G., London

The Buttery is a well equipped spacious property which suited our group of 10. There is a fabulous kitchen where we could all sit and eat together in comfort and a lovely large living room. Bedrooms were also spacious with comfy beds and enough bathrooms to guarantee no queueing. The sun terrace is a sun trap with distant sea views and there is a balcony on the first floor where you can also just about see the sea. Mortehoe village is charming with great pubs, a lovely tea room, a well stocked local shop, and friendly folk. The coastline is beautiful and the beaches are numerous and varied. / We had a wonderful time at The Buttery. We thought it was a fabulous space and was beautifully and tastefully decorated. You provided all the equipment and information we needed and I can't see how you could improve on things at all. Our friends would have liked a tv in the livingroom but I was delighted to not have my evenings spoiled by one of those noisy little boxes. So thanks again for a wonderful holiday. Can I also reiterate how grateful I was, personally, by the way you have communicated with me throughout theprocess. You have been more than helpful and it made a difference. Tim F and family, Chesterfield.

We're loving Mortehoe and your house ...really fab. / [later ...:] Heavenly outdoors holiday location. We have just returned from this great house in Morteho, having spent 2 weeks there with friends and young children. The location is unbeatable, with the surfing beaches a fantastic walk down a scenic path with incredible views across the north Devon coast. We had 3 spectacularly beautiful beaches to choose from for crabbing, sandcastle building, surfing and boogie boarding...etc.....It was perfect! Our kids have rated this their favourite holiday so far ! Beating holidays in Greece and Ile De Re hands down...and we would consider it up there with the best. The house is lovely and spacious, very comfortable and well equipped. Only downside is the lack of outside space, which is why i am not scoring 5 stars, but really this is harsh as the house is perfect in every other way, and the location more than made up for this, as we spent the entire day out in the great outdoors, and the house is right in the heart of a lovely village (with a great pub across the road). We would also definitely love to go back next year. The owners are very friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this property and location. Loughrey family, London

Thank you both for an amazing house. We can all safely say we had a lovely time in Mortehoe and surrounding areas and was a brilliant way to celebrate my birthday! The house was beautiful. It looked just like the photos and we were certainly not disappointed. It was spotless, and we were all amazed by the size and rooms. The facilities were great and was really beneficial to have a washing machine as got a bit dirty on some of the costal walks :) Information reagrding walks was really useful too and think Molly the dog enjoyed them more than anyone! We would definitely be interested in staying again. I can't thank you and Iona enough. Take care and hopefully be staying with you again soon. The whole stay and experience was amazing! Emma T, Leamington Spa.

We had a really lovely time and I think we had better weather than at home! The house was perfect for the family and ideal location. We loved the amount of mugs in the kitchen! We will definitely be coming back and will let others know about you. Thank you so much for a lovely break and your help with information. We didn't get to do the joggers challenge but did have some lovely runs to the lighthouse and back round the coast. Chrissie Z, Bosham.

What a fantastic place. It was the perfect place for Liz's big birthday bash. There were more than a few tears of joy. I know that we will continue to talk the place up for months to come. Indeed if you ever get a cancellation or slight gap in booking whatever time of year just let us know. I think that many of the party guests would be up for a last minute break. Liz wants to do it all again next year. Kit L, Leamington Spa.

Fabulous family and friends getaway. Children, dogs, family, great grandparents the houses accommodated us all. Great amenities and location. local pub made us very welcome. Spectacularly placed for some breath taking walks and beaches. The kitchen was just the place for us all to gather and share food and wine. facilities were fantastic. The bedrooms were a joy to sleep in. piano, games were an added bonus. A very relax place to spend time with people you love. Liked best: The whole thing. Liked least: not applicable. Jane L, Leamington Spa.

Thank you very much for a fabulous weekend. We had good weather on Sat and went round the point where my brother-in-law recalls being taken on his father's shoulders many moons ago. The kitchen was great and well set up and easily accommodated the prep of a 4 course meal for us all. Fish pies on arrival (we had fish delivered from Brixham). Sat eve: canellini/leek soup with truffle oil; rib of beef or peppers stuffed w borlotti/ veg various; cheeses from Ox Cheese co; tarte au citron or choc tart.................phew! Everyone had lunch at the pub on Sat and a fair few pints were consumed there over the course of the weekend so I hope we contributed a little to the local economy. Thanks for a very memorable weekend. JoJo G, Oxfordshire.

Fantastic holiday with large group of friends. We spent a brilliant few days as part of a large party of 17, including 4 children under 7 and 4 teenagers, using both properties which make up the Crescent. The layout of the two houses meant that all ages were catered for. The little ones enjoyed chilling out in the snug and the teenagers escaped to one of the two lounges when they wanted to! The piano got good use and there was plenty of room for everyone to eat in one kitchen. The properties were both immaculate and very well kitted out . Morthoe is a lovely village and we enjoyed some great walks down to the various nearby beaches . Would definitely like to go back. Diane R, Surrey.

The houses were absolutely perfect and the village was quaint and beautiful. The food at the local pub was lovely too. We have all come away from the weekend with very special memories. Thank you again for the great service. I will definitely be recommending your properties to friends and family! Sarah D, Islington, London.

We loved our stay. The house is spacious and comfortable with the most beautiful sunlight and location. We could walk to the beach, with all amenities nearby. We did the circular walk to Bull Point & Morte Point, and visited Woolcombe and Croyde. Perfect place for surfing, walking or cycling or doing nothing at all. I would definitely recommended to anyone and if you are part of a group, you will find a well-equipped kitchen with a large kitchen table too. Ana F, London.

Amazing house, place and village .The week we spent at The Buttery was fantastic firstly due to the weather treating us kindly but also because the house was so beautiful, spacious, comfortable and in the heart of the beautiful village of Mortehoe. There was everything needed for a family of 7 and more. The house has been expertly and lovingly decorated, fitted and thought out, so much so that it felt very special to stay there. Thank you very much to the owners Dominic & Iona, you have created a wonderful house for all to enjoy !! Fantastic communication and information given by the owners. I would recommend wholeheartedly the house, the village and the owners. All in all the perfect holiday. Elaine D., Manchester.

Hi Dom, Just checked my account and the deposit has already been paid in, thanks for the prompt refund. I've been trying to think of any reasonable improvements that could be made to make the stay even more enjoyable, and I'm struggling a little. The bathrooms are immaculate and finished to a high standard. The kitchen is very spacious and easily seats 10 - ideal for two families we sat at the table on Friday evening and chatted till the early hours! All the bedrooms were comfortable and well equipped. All in all a fantastic place. Many thanks for making our stay enjoyable and will be in touch when we want to return.
TripAdvisor: Spacious modern and comfortable house finished to a high standard in one of the best locations in the UK.. 5 of 5 stars. We stayed in Cromlech house last weekend - Friday to Sunday. Although we had only booked a two night stay the owner Dom allowed us to check out as late as we wanted on Sunday which made it a lovely long relaxed weekend. I have to say that Dom has been most helpful throughout the whole booking procedure, full of useful information and even asked for ideas of how to improve future stays - of which I couldn't think of many! Any suggestions I did make were welcomed and acted upon.
We previously stayed at Cromlech in 2008 prior to Dom and Iona's conversion in 2010 when the property was a rambling 10 bedroom house in need of some TLC. Although we enjoyed our previous stay vast improvement has now been made and despite the fact that the house has been split in two still retains the feel of spaciousness with a breakfast kitchen that easily seats two families with children. The master bedroom is very spacious as is the twin room with additional sofa bed which makes up into a large double - ideal for children. The further two double rooms are also extremely comfortable with plenty of storage and comfortable beds. The two bathrooms - one on each of the bedroom floors are finished to a high standard with a really good shower on the first floor one and a bath on the second floor one. Other plus points to the house was the free wifi of which the children made good and constant use! Also lots of books and games are provided which gives the place a real homely feel. Although we spent most of the day times out and about it was lovely to come back to Cromlech in the late afternoon/evening for a home cooked relaxing meal around the large kitchen table and then a comfortable seat in the lounge. Needless to say this will not be our last visit to Cromlech house and hopefully next time it be a longer one! All credit to Dom for his attention to detail and excellent communication throughout. All in all a fantastic place :)) Anita G, Aldridge, UK

We had a brilliant time and didn't want to go home. We look forward to staying again soon. Kate M, Bristol.

Home now after a great weekend - we really enjoyed Cromlech House! We will be back! / TripAdvisor: Perfect for a relaxing break. 5 of 5 stars. We enjoyed a long weekend at Cromlech House with a small group of friends. The House is very well appointed, and is in superb decorative order. Clearly there has been a lot of attention to detail and there isn't anything we would have changed! Dealing with Dominic was very easy and straightforward and the information provided to help support our stay was just right. The area itself is beautiful and Mortehoe is well positioned as a base to explore the surroundings. Without doubt we will be back! Travelling group: Friends. Would I recommend this holiday rental to my best friend? Yes. zski2, Bristol.

Great place and great house, Loved it! Can't wait to come back. Billy Twelvetrees, Gloucester.

Hi Dominic,    WOW what a weekend!! We couldn't have asked for anything  better and the weather was absolutely amazing!!    Just wanted to thank you very much for having such a wonderful  house, it was perfect for a big group of us, lots of bathrooms,  sunbathing space, large dining areas etc. We had 2 beautiful  large meals and there was ample space for all to help cook,  clean up etc.    Yearlstone vineyard was absolutely amazing, run by a very  lovely couple, beautiful setting, very interesting tour and wine  tasting and delicious lunch! Highly recommend it.    We got there with E Zee cabs who were very accommodating  and friendly, able to take us in 2 minibuses.    And finally curry on the beach and a perfect sunset! All worked  out amazingly and the bride was thrilled with it all.    All of us said we would love to come back and stay in your  house so may have drummed up some future business for you  there!    Beds stripped and recycling out, hope we didn’t forget anything.    Thanks again!    Francesca

“Fantastic holiday home in a fantastic village!” 5 of 5 stars. 10 of us stayed here for a long weekend at the beginning of August to celebrate a 30th birthday. We had an amazing time, everything was perfect, not one complaint from any of us! It is a fantastic house in a great spot run by lovely helpful people. We came for a few days after New Year with children and friends. It's an unpredictable time of year for a seaside holiday - and Cromlech was perfect. Warm, comfortable, ideal for blustery walks and beach trips, and even better to come home to. It doesn't feel like a house that's made for the summer only. It's very spacious and stylish and elegant, but with none of the preciousness that that often entails. We loved the fact that each one of the rooms was big and light - have often found with large groups that someone gets the poky or dark room. Pretty much everything we needed was there - from the soup whizzer to the huge array of reading, the unbelievably comfortable beds and the kitchen clothes drier. We were cooking large, sometimes complicated meals, and the kitchen was very well equipped, and great to hang out in. There was something for everyone - playground for the kids, pub across the road, miles of cliff top walking and waves to watch or jump in. We would love to come back. Prof Abigail W. via Google+

A lovely house
*****
Possibly the best holiday accommodation we have ever stayed in. It is a very spacious, stylish and well-equipped house in a pretty village with good pubs, an excellent chippie, a useful general store for basics and a children’s playground. With three bathrooms, a downstairs loo and a massive kitchen it was ideal for our three generation family holiday. You are minutes away from some lovely coastal walks and it’s a 15 minute downhill walk to the lovely sandy beaches at Woolacombe which offers traditional seaside fun without the “tat” that often goes with it. Highly recommended. Wythallman , Birmingham , via TripAdvisor.

We've had a great time in Mortehoe. We were all very impressed! Cromlech House is lovely, and was beautifully clean and very well equipped. Just on behalf of my whole group I'd like to thank you for a fantastic weekend - all your information, help, and not least the house itself has been so much appreciated by everyone. I will definitely recommend to friends in the future. James family, Chichester..

“Amazing Holiday - Can't Wait To Come Again” 5 of 5 stars. A group of 9 of us stayed here at The Buttery as a holiday to celebrate the end of our university term. All of us agree it was a better week than any of us could have imagined - we were unbelievably lucky with the weather, with sun nearly every day - but even on the first day, which was foggy and wet, we had a fantastic time. The house is beautiful, very well equipped and spacious - not only does it sleep ten, but also accommodates them well, so all of us could sit around inside happily without any treading on toes! The views are also spectacular from here. As stated, the beach is only 20 minutes walk away - closer, if you feel like clambering over some rocks - and Barricane Beach is the closest to the house, which we found just as beautiful, but much less crowded on warmer days, than Woolacombe. The village is lovely, with pubs, takeaways and corner shops available to meet our every need. On top of everything else, the owner Dominic was incredibly helpful and friendly, and always replied to all our questions and queries quickly. acbockmuehl, Cambridge, via TripAdvisor

An awesome, cosy weekend with surf and cliff-top walks

It was so good to come back to one of my favourite places in the world! My friends and I had a great weekend and I loved introducing those who hadn't been to The Cresent before to the houses and area. Lucy P

Brilliant break away! I would without doubt highly recommend staying at the Buttery, this was the second time we stayed there! The buttery is brilliantly equipped and has everything you need in terms of cooking/catering for a large group. All the rooms are very tidy, great showers and even supply towels ect. The reason the Buttery stands out from the rest is because of its ideal location, just a 2minute walk from the village but also close enough to walk to the sea (the views are amazing). And if you fancy staying in they have a fantastic balcony on the first floor which faces south and over looks the sea/fields. You will not be disappointed if you book that's for sure! Despite blowy tail end of Storm Dennis, we walked cliff paths, toured the village (beautiful church - very popular for weddings, apparently, amazing post office full of souvenirs, two pubs, a fab chip shop and a museum) and made a trip to Ilfracombe with Landmark Theatre, working habour, Damien Hirst's Verity and skate park to entertain the kids. And I even went down the road to Woolacombe for an early morning swim with surfers - exhilirating stuff. The Buttery is warm and comfortable house for a winter break with lashings of hot water, great bathrooms and a big kitchen diner. So ideal for a Feb half-term holiday when you want short sharp trips out then back to cosy warmth for games, food and fun. Emma Peddie via Google.

The Buttery was a perfect house for our family of 8 adults and 2 x 2 year olds. The bedrooms worked out well for all of us and there were plenty of bathrooms. We used one of the travel cots as we also brought one of our own. Thanks. We also made use of your 2 high chairs. Good to have the stair gates there too. The location was good for the pubs, and beaches. We would certainly recommend it to other families. Again, thank you for providing a lovely holiday house. We all had an amazing time. Janet W., Marlborough.

Siamo arrivati. Senza parole, il posto è una meraviglia. Meglio di quanto ci aspettassimo

We had the most wonderful week. The house was perfect. Thank you for having us. Is the house available next autumn half term? Beth P., Cambridge

We had the most brilliant weekend and couldn't have enjoyed it more! Lucy G.

Perfect holiday rental for us and for our family who are in their twenties and keen surfers and their friends. The house is clean, spacious, contemporary, comfortable and with character. Plenty of showers and baths for post-surfing. Well-appointed kitchen. Lots of cupboard space for food for a large family. Heavenly veranda that has a knack of catching whatever sun there is. Perfect for breakfast or morning coffee. Brilliant back-kitchen for hanging wetsuits, wellies, damp clothing etc. Airing cupboard for drying. The snug is lovely for telly or quiet time. Close to great surfing beaches - Woolacombe, Putsborough, Croyde and Saunton Sands - varied for different conditions. Lovely long and short cliffs walks with bird life, seals and dolphins. Mortehoe is sweet, with a well-stocked village shop. And a trip to Lundy Island is a highlight. Susan F, London.

Fantastic holiday home! Very comfortable, warm and relaxing holiday home. Really well situated and spacious inside. Mortehoe is a nice small village to stay in which is close to the sea, Woolacombe and cliff-top walks. Would definitely recommend! Rowan P, London / Review on review OwnersDirect: We had an absolutely brilliant and very productive time composing music while on holiday at The Buttery in Mortehoe. The house was all we were hoping for and more. very clean and stylishly presented, comfy living room, fab kitchen, 5 excellent bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, utility, breathtaking scenery. Will be back soon for more creating. Rowan

Lovely place to stay in a great location. Everything you could want in a rental house - perfect for families - beautifully renovated house in the lovely village of mortehoe. We had a great stay - we'd love to return one day. Very much liked the megabloks - they kept the boys entertained when it was wild outside! Sophia and family, Haslemere

We had a fantastic time. Thank you both. The two houses have been really well planned and so well equipped. Loads of plates and crockery and saucepans which is so often the downfall of rental properties. It worked perfectly for our massed families with plenty of space even when the weather was not kind. We had a go at surfing, well not ME but the rest  of them, and went on lots of walks and saw clovelly and had curry on the beach and dartington glass and did a little tour of our childhood haunts at Fremington and instow and Arlington Court. Never a dull moment . There is such a lot going on in North Devon and I am sure that we will come back. Kate G, London

We had a fantastic long weekend at the Buttery, thank you. What a fantastic location it is! The house is very well-equipped and comfortable. We had lovely sunshine on Saturday and Sunday which was brilliant - nice to see the green fields and blue sky and sea rather than rain and snow! Many thanks and we will recommend you! Emma B-T, Bristol.

[before ...] Thanks so much for all the info, you've been brilliant, we are all really excited about our holiday. [during ...] We love the house and are all planning our next trip here if its still available next year. Thanks so much for everything. We had a great time, we will definitely stay again. [after ...] Thanks for returning the deposit so quickly. We will be In contact soon. Kate M., Bristol.

We've had a lovely weekend, many thanks. The house has worked brilliantly for us. We always self cater and The Buttery must be the most well equipped one so far, the children went home this afternoon so tonight we are chilling with a glass or two!! Many thanks again.
J Davis, Glos.

Wonderful time with Friends. Ideal house for large groups, interconnecting, plenty of space for little ones to explore, and National Trust headland walk within seconds. Lovely pub across the road for a swift one. Really nicely appointed had everything we needed for a fantastic weekend. You can walk into Woolacombe along the beach which is about a mile, which all of the kids managed and the walk round Morte point is dramatic. Thoroughly recommend. Haddon family, Bristol.

Happy Easter. We are having a brilliant stay! Freya B., Exeter. / The weekend was a wonderful success and having the 2 houses worked brilliantly for us. Rob P, Exeter.

Dear Dominic, I wanted to say a huge thank you for letting us enjoy your wonderful houses for what was a fantastic weekend! We were all delighted at how great the place was and plan to come again. I can honestly say that there was nothing I would improve on, we couldn't have been happier with it and the location was superb! I think we amused some of the locals at the Chichester Arms on the Friday night too :-) Very best wishes and thank you for making the weekend so memorable with your fabulous accommodation! Williams family, Somerset.

Spacious, clean and well-equipped in lovely location. Dominic was extremely helpful and considerate and responded promptly to all our queries. The house was exactly as we expected it to be - spacious, clean, well-equipped and ideally located for walking the South West Coastal Path. Local bus service to Ilfracombe is on your doorstep! Plus Post Office and NT tea rooms nearby. Dr Leah A, London on TripAdvisor.

“Awesome, Amazing, Epic.” We went on holiday to Mortehoe. We found The Cromlech House online. We were SO HAPPY with the house and location. Morte Point offered amazing hiking. You must hike to Bull Point lighthouse. The house was perfectly located, and exceedingly comfortable for our family (Grandmother, Parents, 2 children). Our children loved the house - so spacious and plenty of games.
Views from every window were so refreshing. Would I recommend this holiday rental to my best friend? Yes. Brito_34,Senior Reviewer @ TripAdvisor.

We had a fabulous week, you have a gorgeous house and we would love to come back. Karen S., Telford.

Dear Dominic, The weekend was perfect, it couldn't have gone better and the house was brilliant. I can't think of any suggestions to make, only keep on doing what you are doing! You have thought of everything, the house was very well equipped, the rooms spacious and the beds very comfortable, and the extra chairs stacked in the cupboard in the kitchen was ingenious. The weather was glorious, and the venue was amazing. We will recommend both houses to all our friends, and will keep you in mind for future celebrations. Thanks again. S Reed, Somerset.

Just a short note to say we all had a brilliant time again at the house really enjoyed it. Looking forward to next year already. Daniel H, Clevedon.

Fantastic New Year get away. 5 of 5 stars. We've just returned from a fabulous Mon-Fri stay at The Cresent for New Year celebrations. As a party of 19 including 11 adults and 8 kids both houses are so spacious that the kids could easily get lost. From day one of contacting the owner Dom his communication has been first class and very helpful. Both houses are immaculate and very well equipped, the wifi really good which is great with a 13 yr old ! The beds are very comfortable and location is superb ! Probably 10 meters to the nearest pub. All in all a wonderful time was spent with family and friends and we'll definitely be using these properties again. Rachel B, Tamworth, Staffs. via TripAdvisor.

We have had a fantastic weekend in your beautiful place! And we will be back! Everybody was absolutely raving about it! The location is perfect and the house is so well equipped and child friendly. Thank you again. L. Kelly, Bristol.

Thank you both for helping make an amazing long weekend! The location was fantastic, and I think everyone was really impressed by the two houses. The weather was amazing all weekend, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Genuinely, I can't think of a way that the houses could be improved - I was so impressed when I walked in. Plus the kitchen was so well equipped that I had everything I needed! I have suggested to my dad that we hire it out for a family holiday sometime next year with everyone as it's very family friendly. We had a brilliant time! Robbie C., Wotton-under-Edge, Glos.

“fantastically equipped and really conveniently village central.” *****/5
Reviewed 13 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015
This is a beautifully restored and really well equipped house right in the centre of the village of Mortehoe --directly opposite (20 yards !) from our Favourite Pub --The Chichester which does excellent meals and great ales and wines. It is quite clear that a great deal of thought has gone into the restoration and fitting out of the house. We are keen cooks and everything we could possibly need was there---and it was all very high quality , even down to a stainless steel cafetiere ! --stops breaking glass ones ! We have been holidaying in the area for some 25 years and know the area well, so we were absolutely delighted to come across this really comfortable house. Loads of books to read --you'd need to be there for years to read them all! Beds were very comfortable. There is parking on the front of the house and the owner arranges parking in the local car park for other vehicles Easy to unload straight into the front door. We really look forward to making a return visit. Easy access ( driving) to some marvellous beaches and lots of excellent national Trust walks ---virtually straight out of the front door !
